Finding The Right Electric Guitar Accessories For Your Peavey

The Peavey Wolfgang guitar was only in production from 1996 to 2004 but during those years this guitar has made a noticeable impact on the guitar world. The Wolfgang guitar was developed Eddie Van Halen, lead guitarist and co-founder of the band Van Halen.

At the time of its creation Eddie had already developed several other instruments with other guitar makers but once he sat down to design what he then considered to be the world’s best rock and roll guitar, he approached the folks at Peavey Electronics.

For several years, prior, Hartley Peavey and his electrical wizards had been producing Eddie’s legendary 5150 amplifiers and combo systems. So it was a natural choice for Van Halen to bring to them his newest signature guitar, named after his small son Wolfgang.

The Peavey Wolfgang was a solid body guitar with a basswood construction with a curly or flame maple top. It had a unique cutaway design with an arch-top with top edge binding. It had a Birdseye fretboard and matching neck which was reinforced by a graphite rod.

It came with a Peavey/Floyd Rose tremolo bar and an EVH branded D-Tuna. The electronic package included 2 custom-wound Peavey humbucking pickups, a Switchcraft, 3-way toggle switch and output jack along with dual volume and tone controls.

The recommended guitar accessories for the Wolfgang of course included the Peavey/EVH 5150 amp head. Like almost all Peavey/EVH (Eddie Van Halen) amps from this era the 5150 have was designed to reproduce Eddie’s trademark “Brown sound” a type of silky crunch sound with the great harmonics the Wolfgang guitar was known for.

The Peavey 5150 had 2 main channels: Lead and Rhythm and was made for pushing out waves of sound for super fast metal bands such as Van Halen. With 120 watts of power the 5150 should be more than strong enough for the most brutal of rock or metal bands.

The 5150-212 combo amps were another type of electric guitar accessories that were similar to the 5150 head in many ways but was thought by some to have a cleaner sound than the head but is in some ways was not as technical superior.

Once you have the basics you will of course want other guitar accessories for the Wolfgang. Some electric guitar accessories believed to be used by Van Halen in latter years include various guitar effects such as a wah-wah pedal, a phase shifter, a flanger unit, delay or echo unit along with a reverb system and an overdrive distortion pedal.

But once you have the basic equipment you need to finish your metal band sound with such EVH favorites as quality guitar strings made to match the ones Eddie uses on stage.

These electric guitar strings are made with a high quality hex center with windings made from nickel and are made to withstand the brutal punishment of playing night after night while staying in tune without losing any their great tonal quality.

There you have it the entire collection of recommended guitar accessories for the Wolfgang. This list includes the basics electric guitar accessories that any guitarist interested in owning a Peavey Wolfgang should have.
